Meet Lauren | Dogwood Dance Company Feature | Year Seven
Truth to be told, I didn't start getting into dance until I came to Dogwood, formally known as Binford. First in my sixth grade year, I didn't try out because I was scared I wasn’t going to get in. However, in seventh grade I did try out; although I didn't make it, I made it into a good dance studio outside of school. Then in eighth grade I finally made it into Dance Company, so at the time I was doing both outside and at school dance. I’ve had so much fun in dance company with the time I’ve spent here.

Dance is important to me since it’s just an amazing way of expressing yourself in movement. Dance also provides performances, and I love to watch them. They are just so peaceful. Dance will always be something I cherish.

I started my dance journey at a very young age, I was always very drawn to ballet. I tried other dance styles but ballet was the one I actually stuck with. I'm at Richmond Ballet right now and I'm really enjoying it. I've received some really quality training and grown a lot as a dancer.
Meet Annika | Dogwood Dance Company Feature | Year Seven
My dance journey dates back to the 4th grade. I started having interest in dance when I would just dance around my house and alone in my room. Dance was a way for me to express myself and escape reality. If I was going through a hard time it made it easier for me to express my emotions through dance.m

I started dancing at the age of six years old, and when I started, I fell in love with it. When I came to this school and found out there was a dance company, I knew I had to audition. Dance is a big part of my life now and it allows me to be creative with myself and I really enjoy being a part of this dance company.

Being in a dance company has taught me so much more than I ever thought it would, and I wouldn't trade the three years with all the amazing people at Dogwood for anything in the world. The community and love these people have shown me as I've developed my dance expertise has been truly remarkable.
Meet Khi | Dogwood Dance Company Feature | Year Seven
Hey, it's me– Khi. I’ve enjoyed dancing ever since I was a toddler. I started taking dance classes really early on. Dancing is something that comes natural to me, my family does it all the time. Music and dance helped me get through a traumatic event that happened to me when I was in the third grade. To help grow and get over that, I started dancing.
Meet Ama | Dogwood Dance Company Feature | Year Seven
My dance journey has been shared many times and I will always love to talk about it. I have always loved dance and I loved it since I was younger and I will never stop. I have never actually had a professional experience until I got to middle school and really got into my love of dance. To me, dance is a way to express yourself and a great way to have fun. I love to dance because I can share my emotions and just let loose and have fun.
